Around almost every bend or over almost every rise in
the road, you see them — ancient castles, churches or abbeys. Some
in ruins, many still very much alive and functioning. And surrounding
them, everywhere the golds and greens of grain fields, vineyards and woods,
the colors of a verdant countryside. This is Tuscany, as I saw it
and as it will always be painted in my mind.
